2013's Shelby GT500 Ford Mustang will reach 200 MPH, but remain street legal. We're not sure how that's possible, but everyone at Chuck Stevens Ford in Bay Minette, AL can't wait to get their hands on one!
We have to ask - will a daily driver be able to control a with a 650-horsepower V8? "Years ago, that may have been a concern," one Ford engineer stated. "But now with all the technology in these cars ... they are extremely safe to drive."1"Engineers say [Mustang] will just top 200 mph, but will be street legal -- and tame enough in traffic to be your daily driver, as well as weekend racer. The current Shelby GT500 is electronically limited to 155 mph. The new one is not limited."2
Next year's Shelby Mustang will have a redesigned front end as well, with updated high-intensity headlights. Even the regular Mustang V8 gets a horsepower boost of 420 horses. All powertrain options will be matted to a six-speed automatic transmission with manual mode, accessible via button on the car's shifter.Shelby's current GT500 starts at $49,605 MSRP. This 50th anniversary edition will likely stick to that $50,000 mark, with many add-ons optional.
